To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Botafumeiro, one of Barcelona’s most iconic restaurants, I developed an exclusive animation for social media that pays tribute to its identity and Barcelonian spirit.

This project was a creative collaboration with Philippe Boonen, a renowned local artist, who was in charge of the illustrations, bringing a poetic perspective to each scene.

Crafting the essence
of Botafumeiro

My role focused on art direction and motion graphics — from defining the visual style to selecting the color palette, animation technique, and overall texture treatment. We embraced a craft-inspired approach, using paper-based elements to highlight the essence of the restaurant: the iconic Botafumeiro, its renowned seafood platters, and its legendary chef.

From pastels
to precision

I drew inspiration from auteur cinema, particularly Wes Anderson’s pastel color palettes and whimsical world-building, as well as Stanley Kubrick’s use of symmetry and precise camera movements to create a strong cinematic presence.
